The Connection Between Vision and Hearing
Why is your eye doctor asking you about your hearing? A university study published in a medical journal found that vision problems are associated with the onset of hearing loss. The two go hand in hand as we age, and you may not realize your hearing is diminishing.
Today over 30 million senior Americans (over the age of 60) and perhaps an equal number of Baby Boomers, suffer from hearing loss. Recent studies have shown that up to 50% of the Baby Boomer population is experiencing significant hearing loss as much as 20 years earlier than previous generations.
Do you have hearing loss? Watch for these signs:
Do others complain that your TV is too loud?
Do you frequently ask others to repeat what they are saying?
Do you have difficulty understanding in groups or noisy situations?
Do you have trouble hearing on the phone?
When you come to ESA for your exam, your hearing can also be checked. Doing both in one stop saves you time. Schedule your hearing check the next time you have your eyes examined.
