Personalized Vision After Cataract Surgery with Light Adjustable Lens
Choosing a replacement lens is an important part of planning cataract surgery. The RxSight™ Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) offers a unique advantage: your vision can be fine-tuned after the lens has been implanted and your eye has had time to heal. Eye Surgeons Associates was the first practice in Iowa to offer this advanced lens technology, giving cataract patients another way to pursue their individual vision goals
How Does the Light Adjustable Lens Work?
The LAL contains a special light-sensitive material. Following cataract surgery, controlled UV light treatments are used to modify the lens and refine its focusing power based on how you are seeing.
What Happens After LAL Cataract Surgery?
Once your eyes have healed, you will return for a series of light treatments. Patients typically undergo two to four treatments, with each procedure taking approximately 90 seconds.
Why Choose an Adjustable Cataract Lens?
Traditional intraocular lenses have a predetermined focusing power. The LAL provides an opportunity to experience your postoperative vision before the final prescription is set, allowing greater customization based on your visual preferences.
Do I Need UV-Protective Glasses After Surgery?
Yes. Patients must wear the provided UV-protective glasses during waking hours until all light treatments are complete. Following these instructions helps protect the lens from unintended UV exposure.
