Title: I dream of a life without glasses
Author: Mike Dodds
I've been wearing glasses for about 35 years now, since I was about 12 years old. The daily frustrations of glasses have become a part of my life, to the point that I can't imagine how free it would feel to no longer be a prisoner to them. I have tried contacts in the past but never could tolerate them very well.
The best part of no longer having to wear glasses for me would be the tremendous increase in the quality of my life. I officiate basketball and baseball, and the glasses are a major hinderance. Officials that wear glasses will hear about their eyesight from the crowd eventually, trust me. This is especially true in baseball, where I have to try and pull a mask on and off without knocking the glasses off of my face. Then if it starts to rain, forget it. Want to try and call balls and strikes through a rain soaked windshield?
Lasik surgery would be the greatest thing to happen to me since I had children and met my wife. I can't imagine how good it would feel to pull that mask on and not have to worry about ripping my glasses off my face, or simply to get up in the morning and not have to immediately reach for my glasses. What a luxury. Thank you for your consideration.
