Title: SHE DRIVES A CAR, PEOPLE!!
Author: Terry Jordan
My wife, Patricia Jordan, and I have been married for 22 years. She is the sweetest, most giving person I’ve ever met. It’s not even a case of everyone else coming before her because she never expects anything from those around her. She is giving to a fault.
When we first met I was making $2.00 an hour bartending (the bar owner was providing room and board). She was making quite a bit more. She took me in, cleaned me up, and put me through college. She tells me all the time that she wishes she would have attended college, but while I was in college we started having children and it just never worked out for her.
She is also very stubborn. She hasn’t been able to see well for many, many years. She had RK surgery around 16 years ago. It helped for a while, but about 6 years ago her eyes started going bad again and, because she refuses to put herself first, she won’t get it taken care of. She has a heel spur that makes it difficult to walk. She sometimes needs to use a cane. Last week I wanted to take her to the Good Feet Store and she got mad at me! She also has fibromyalgia. She works SO hard it makes my head spin. She never stops even though she’s in constant pain.
Even if I could convince her to take care of herself she says we can’t afford it. She was recently laid off from her job and I had my hours cut in the same week. With one child in college and another graduating from high school next month and looking to start college, she refuses to spend money on herself. Since she was laid off she’s gone out and got two jobs to help make up for the one she lost. I really don’t know how she does it.
Because of the RK surgery she can’t wear contacts. She buys glasses at the dollar store. She squints to see. SHE DRIVES A CAR, PEOPLE!! She’s on the road EVERY DAY! I hope you see her, because she doesn’t see you!
She is the love of my life. I haven’t always shown her how much I love her the way I should, but the older I get the more I appreciate her and the harder I try. We need this surgery! It would go a long way in giving her the life she deserves.
