Title: Help a firefighter
Author: Jonathon Briggs

Ever since I was a kid, I always dreamed of becoming a fireman. Just ask my mom, everytime she would take me for a walk and I would see a fire truck, I would yell "fire truck" and the top of my lungs. Well, about ten years ago, that dream came true. The only issue was my glasses. I wore glasses full time since the fourth grade. Wearing glasses was never an issue for me until I became a firefighter. When you wear the self contained breathing apparatus or the air tank, you can't wear glasses. I went to contacts when I first became a firefighter, wearing them for 24 hours at a time but after years of wearing contacts, they began to dry out and would only be able to wear contacts for short periods before they would have to come out and go back to glasses. The doctor says thats what happens after extended use of contacts. Well, I'm back to glasses and now that I am an officer on the fire department and usually will be the first on scene of a fire, I am the eyes and ears for everyone else that is coming to the fire and need to see clearly. I am afraid that when I take my glasses off to put on my air tank, I might miss something and I just want to able to see without the help of glasses to keep everyone safe.
