Title: Hello & Good Morning Beautiful World!!
Author: Jayne Mooney

I have fumbled with glasses since 2nd grade. My poor eyesight was discovered when I would constantly get in trouble for talking in church because I could not read the number of the song we were going to sing. I would have to ask the person sitting next to me for the song number. Growing up I used to go to the local swimming pool in the summer. It was lots of fun until I could not see the clock and had to ask someone what time it was to make it home on time. Then it got to the point that I could not see clearly the person swimming next to me. This made swimming go from lots of fun to major frustration and I stopped swimming completely. Recently I started swimming again but I now wear my contacts inside my goggles and have to constantly make sure that the goggles are sealed around my eyes so that I do not lose my contacts. I am having a blast swimming but fear that if the contacts wash out I will not be able to see across the pool. I have always wished since I was a kid that my eye sight would be good enough to be able to see my surroundings when I swim. LASIK surgery will accomplish my dream and will allow me to be able to swim and see the surroundings without worrying about contacts washing out of my eyes. It also scares me that if there is an emergency in the middle of the night I may not be able to see well enough to survive the situation. Especially if I am not able to find my glasses. Looking down at my feet, they are blurs. I have to get my nose 2 inches away from the mirror to put my make up on. If someone is standing more that 2 feet away, the only way I know who it is is by voice recognition. I feel like Burgess Meredith in an episode of The Twilight Zone. He loved to read and reading was taken away from him when his glasses broke and the world around him turned into a huge blur. I want LASIK surgery so I can wake up each morning seeing that beautiful world (which includes my husband and three kids) clearly without having to search on my nightstand for my glasses each morning!!
